Vacation Bible School!

It's summertime in Indiana and that means it's time for Vacation Bible School! Our church held 3 evening sessions of teaching kids about God - featuring crafts, games, and snacks.

….. what does this have to do with racing????

This year’s theme was “Rocket Racers - On Track With Our Powerful God” - focusing on Elijah. Our church is lucky in that we have several racecar drivers as members, and Nick was asked to come and talk to the kids!

He brought his car up for them to look at, which they all thought was a very special treat! He told them what he does to prepare for a race.  The week before a race he watches video and uses his sim. The day of the race, he has to check the car over, and all kinds of other stuff. Then right before the race, he tightens the wheels and fills the fuel up. He showed them all the gear he wears while he's driving, and then started the car up for them to hear it!

Then we showed the kids how to get in and out of the car and they all got a chance to hop in. So many smiles!

The following Sunday Nick was the “celebrity” at our service, he showed up in his full race gear (yes, the helmet too!). He channeled his inner Stig and didn't talk to anyone which was interesting 😂

Our church service was racecar-themed!

We usually have our service in the sanctuary, but since our fellowship hall was all decorated for VBS we had it there. I think it's the first time I've seen a someone wearing a racing helmet during church! Nick had driven his TT car to church, aka the Camaro that he started this race journey with, so the kids all came out after church to check that one out too. We had a lot of kids in the car!

Overall it was a fun experience to get to share the racing passion with my church family!

Many of the kids tried on Nick's helmet. While they thought it was cool, the overwhelming consensus is that it smells! 😲
