My amazing wife told me I needed to start a blog of all my racing adventures. I want to capture all of these memories, both good and bad, and educate people on what motorsports is all about! My main goal is to share all the trials, tribulations, and joys of racing at the grassroots level. To show what happens behind the curtain when you hear someone say "I'm going racing this weekend!"

Highlights from NASA Great Lakes at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August

I’ll post some highlights of the NASA Great Lakes August Mid Ohio event while Nick works on the full recap. It’s been 3 months since Nick had a chance to drive the car on track while the engine was getting repaired. Although there are still some issues (mysterious oil leak somewhere?) – the Thunder Grinch is BACK!!! Here it is getting the CHECKERED FLAG on Race # 1 on Saturday! There is QUITE a story to tell about Race # 1, but I will tease it with – Nick spun and then successfully restarted the car and here you can see him getting the checkered flag! In these cars, it’s extremely common to kill the starter when the car spins, but he managed to push all the pedals in the right order to keep the starter healthy. So that was definitely a new skill he can check off!

Nick started on the POLE for Race # 3 Sunday – here is a video! He also got a new personal best, 1:38.956, for the Pro Course.

He fought through some issues over the weekend which I’m sure will be included in the recap - a mysterious oil leak, getting used to the car (again), and his brakes started fading midway through the races. Not trouble-free, but he kept improving as the weekend went on! Full weekend recap coming soon and you can read all about it!
